The Healthy Lifestyle Project is designed to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in women through exercise and diet. The Westside Health Authority is sponsoring the existing program. Citizen Leaders from the Austin Community, participate in the program, which provides them with a  "Holistic Approach" to managing themselves. The "Holistic Approach" addresses the physical, spiritual, mental, emotional, social, and financial aspects of lifestyles.

The Healthy Lifestyle group varies in age, from early 40s to late 60s. The  group meets 2 times per week in a structured setting. The group also meets independent of the group structured meetings for social gatherings and physical activities. One of the group's trademarks, is how to effectively deal with depression, from a "Holistic" perspective.

Ultimately, the Healthy Lifestyle project promotes the basic concept that  weight loss is a by-product of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This concept is germane to the successful completion of the program.
